Sugarless Gum

Many people might be suprised to hear that a dentist recommends gum chewing. Chewing sugarless gum is actually a good thing to do for your teeth; especially when you don't have time to brush.

Ideally, brushing and flossing after every meal is the best way to combat the bateria and acids that form on or around the teeth. However, brushing and flossing aren't always practical to do. The next best thing to brusing is chewing sugarless gum.

When you chew sugarless gum, saliva is increased and saliva flow is beneficial to the mouth and teeth. Saliva contain enzymes and antibodies that breakdown carbohydrates (sugar) and fight tooth decay. Saliva contains minerals that protect teeth from acids that promote tooth decay.

In addition to all the dental benefits, most sugarless gums are great-tasting and available everywhere. Remember, when you aren't able to brush after eating, do something good for your teeth, chew sugarless gum.
